How To Identify Your Skin Type

| |

Believe it or not, but identifying your true skin type can help you in more ways than one. So here are ways on how you can know your skin type and be able to fully take care of your skin.

First Method

This method allows you to see your face at its simplest and thus help you in identifying your skin type. It won’t be able to detect dry skin though.

Steps:

  1. Clean your face and do not apply any (facial) products.
  2. Wait for 10 minutes.
  3. Get a white tissue or any clean and smooth blanket and use it to blot your face.

If your nose and forehead are oily, then you have a combination skin.
If your face is entirely oily, then you have an oily skin.
If there’s no oil on your face at all, then you have a dry skin.
If a little bit of oil is evident all over your face, then you have a normal skin.

Second Method

This method can test whether your skin is normal, dry, oily, and combination. It must be done in the morning, when you have just woken up.

Steps:

  1. Get a facial tissue.
  2. Use the tissue to gently wipe your face.

After doing so, look at the facial tissue you used and refer below:

If tissue does not reveal any traces of oil, then you have a normal skin.
It tissue does not reveal any trace of oil and your face feels tight, flaky and dry, then you have a dry skin.
If the tissue reveals spots of oil, then you have an oily skin.
If the tissue reveals few spots of oil, then you have a combination skin.

Identify A Sensitive Skin

Both of the mentioned methods are not capable of identifying a sensitive skin, but here are some clues if you posses one:

  • Your skin feels very dry and tight most of the time.
  • Skin easily becomes inflamed and irritated.
  • Skin feels itchy and tingly.
